Treatment process combination
The drinking water utility of the city of Dresden will operate in its treatment works a membrane pilot plant treating 5-20 m3/h. It applies ultrafiltration as post-treatment for bankfiltrate.
Aims & ambition
The combination of bank filtration and ultrafiltration can be applied as a reliable multi-barrier treatment, safely retaining microbial contamination which may vary with the flow regime of the river. The specific objectives within the AquaNES are
- to demonstrate the cNES innovation of combined RBF and UF as reliable multi-barrier treatment,
- to highlight the advantages of RBF for the cost effective operation of UF membranes with respect to pathogen and organics removal.
